If you are someone that likes to use cannabis for any reason, it is a great time to be alive in the United States. I say this because, more than ever before, people in the United States have access to using marijuana through a variety of means. Now, if you are living in a state like Texas or Idaho, you may be angrily shaking your fist at me. Of course, not every state in the nation has been kind to marijuana regulation and administration, but many have. In fact, at least 40 states in the country have legalized marijuana through some sort of medical program, and an additional 20 or so states have also legalized marijuana use for adults over the age of 21.
If you live in any of those states, it pretty much means that you can buy marijuana whenever you want to, as long as you can afford it. You see, cannabis can be really expensive depending on where you live in the United States. Just because you could buy weed, doesn’t necessarily mean that you can afford it even if you wanted to. This is one of the problems that a lot of people have been running into when it comes to using marijuana in their state. Like I just said, it really does depend on the state that you live in.
For example - where I am from in Grand Rapids, Michigan, buying weed is relatively cheap. You can get a pack of edibles, about 100mg of THC in total, for around $10 or so. Going up to Maine for spring break with a few of my buddies, we quickly realized that the same pack of edibles runs for $25 or $30 in that state. I definitely would not want to be paying that much for weed all the time. So if you have been struggling to pay for weed, whether you are a medical user, I truly do feel sorry for you. However, I may have some tips that could help you save some money next time you are planning to visit your local dispensary, so make sure that you keep reading if you want to take advantage of those!
The first tip that I have for you when it comes to saving money at your dispensary is to take advantage of sales and discounts. Honestly, this is just shopping 101. Some people like to limit the amount of times that they go to the dispensary each month, especially if getting there can be a bit of a drive. Many medical marijuana patients like to go at the beginning of the month, buy all the weed that they can, and then come back next month. While this can definitely be convenient, you may not be saving the most money by doing things this way.
Oftentimes, dispensaries will have special discounts and sales going on for various products. Perhaps they got a great deal on a strain in bulk and are having a sale on it, or a certain product is about to expire in the coming weeks. Whatever the case is, taking advantage of these deals can save you a lot of money in the long run. Even if they are not doing a sale on your favorite cannabis strain, it doesn’t hurt to take advantage of a discount and try a new strain that you have never had before. Who knows - you might find your new go to strain!
Another way that you can save money at the dispensary is to buy shake, which is basically loose cannabis that is created through the bud trimming process.
